Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Preview

Jacksonville Jaguars
MJD ready to be a Fantasy Star, is anyone else?

Best Bet:
Maurice Jones-Drew- If you were surprised to see Jones-Drew as the 3rd rated RB by almost all major fantasy outlets, you shouldn't have been. Despite, time-sharing with Fred Taylor, 'MoJo' has already proven to be a fantasy stud, and deserves the pre-season hype. The last 2 seasons, Jones-Drew has put up top-7 or better RB numbers. If you play in a PPR league, or any league that awards catches, it validates his ranking even more. Jones-Drew has a great set of hands, and is a force when catching the ball in the backfield.

The NFL trend now is to have a platoon of running backs. Two of the best rushing teams last year, Baltimore and NY Giants, had "3 headed monsters". Jacksonville appears to be going against the trend, by making Jones-Drew the guy in Jacksonville. This may be a legitimate concern that he may break down by season's end; but no need to worry. Steve Slaton and Matt Forte carried the full-load for their respective teams last year, and were studs. Jones-Drew has quietly been one of the best fantasy RBs over the last few seasons, this year he's ready to announce to the world what we already know here.

Buyer Beware:
Torry Holt- I get it. Holt is entering an offense that has absolutely no other receivers. Jacksonville's receiving corps makes the Bears look like the Greatest Show on Turf. Holt may be the beneficiary of extra targets, but he's not even close to the same player he once was. Jacksonville, first and fore-most is a running team. David Garrard is a game manager who's job is to not turn the ball over, and get some 1st downs. Holt's numbers will probably resemble his of last season. He's not a terrible play by any means; but he's a flex play only in a good matchup.

Sleeper:
Rashad Jennings- I'll state it again, Jacksonville's receivers are terrible and are going to rely on the run. The Ravens rushed it about 37 times a game last year, I expect Jacksonville to come close to those numbers. If MJD is getting 20 carries a game, there's a lot left over. Greg Jones would seem like the likely candidate, but like Jennings he's big, unlike Jennings he's slow. The problem for Jones si MJD is a beast in the red-zone. Jennings has good size and speed, and has a great shot at becoming the primary backup in Jacksonville. Jennings is the 2nd running back you want as insurance to MJD.
