Brett Favre...back?

Sources: Favre to join Vikings
It was a sincere hope here at Front Office Projections to never utter the name Brett Favre like the rest of sports media outlets beat this topic like a dead horse. Well the Soap Opera that is Brett Favre is now reportedly set to join the Vikings. Rumors have it that he will join the Vikings for their final 2 preseason games, but before you go out and buy a purple Favre jersey, wait until you see Favre in it.

The next time you hear us mutter the name Brett Favre it will be when his decision is FINAL and discussing his fantasy prospects.

  1. When is his decision ever final? For all we know, he could sign a contract then retire mid season waffling about THAT decision all the while.

  2. Haha. Well said. Trust me, I'm sick of hearing his name. I admired Favre as an athlete but this act was old last year, now its just pathetic.

When it's all said and done though, I think Favre will come back... so unfortuantely he's newsworthy for fantasy players.

  3. I have Adrian Peterson, so from a fantasy standpoint, I can bare his waffling b/c of what his presence means to Peterson's fantasy value. Just look at the year Thomas Jones had with the presence of Brett Favre in the backfield. If he returns, most days he will do just as much harm as good. But just that threat that he'll break out and have a rediculous 6td effort- i.e. last years game against arizona- means that teams will have to pick and choose when they can stack the box to stop peterson. Like I said Thomas Jones benefited from this perceived threat- Just imagine how a real talent, like peterson, at running back can benefit from this perception.

But on a personal level, as a fan of the game, he needs to seriously just retire already... He's losing a lot of respect from people who would previously never bash him.

  4. He's baaaaaacccccck. Personally I won't be targeting him in any of my leagues. I'll let someone else take a chance.

I agree about AP, Dan. He will force defensed to be more honest. But I don't think he's a threat to throw 6 TD's in a game this year, not with that receiving corps.

  5. Agreed, Spell.
Although I think this increases Berrian's value a little bit.

AP is by far the biggest beneficiary though.
